a perk of camp ministry

Author Journal StoryAs staff of Whisper Mountain Youth Camp, we have the rare privilege of glimpsing a few of the words God is authoring on the pages of His kids' lives. Each story is unique, with differing scenery having its own peaks and valleys, but every story contains the same thread of grace woven throughout its plot. Who writes a better story than the Author of life?

Authoring Matt McFallsWe've enjoyed having a guy named Matt McFalls with us for the past month or so. Talk about a guy who loves to laugh! He's pretty good at causing our sides to ache, but he also works hard (hello weed-whacker!), has great insight and is like the rest of us…in process with His Daddy!

Who knows how long we get to have him around, but we kind of hope he doesn't have plans to leave any time soon! Today I'm thankful for the faithfulness of the With Us God and the chance to glimpse His work through camp ministry!

Have you seen God working recently? Whether we see or not, we can be confident He is faithful.

Here we are at Friday. A quick peek over the shoulder reminds me of my Monday hope…that turned out to be just a hope afterall! As I step over the mound of frustrations in my path, I shake off the dust, take a deep breath and forage ahead. We are welcoming college students for a retreat this weekend and then, in exactly six days, we will be hugging necks in welcome of our summer staff! With their arrival comes the amazing chance to know some stellar people, the arrival of tons of fun, the start of longer hours, and the shared passion of Proclaiming God to all coming to Whisper Mountain Youth Camp this summer!Monument.alYou can be sure their start with us will start here…at the rock. the monument. the reminder. the proclaiming of what God has done in starting this camp with free land. the vision he gives us each day. the monumental journey of learning to live our lives tuned into His whisper.

Sitting. Remembering. Listening.

May we find opportunity to consider our journey. to tune into His whisper.

Happy Weekending!

Paintball at whisper mountainyou know those days that everything just seems to be a struggle. as if you are the target of anything and everything going wrong. i had one of those days yesterday. just at the cusp of me coming unglued, i felt an inner tugging, almost a whisper: call out to Him. and so i did. i told my Daddy how i couldn't handle anything else going wrong, or any other occurrence reminding me of my inadequacy, or anything.else. when i finished my holy unloading:), i didn't see lightning bolts or get a special feeling or experience something of epic proportions. but i did notice how my heart felt less weak, my strength stopped waining, my perspective was less doom-some! it seemed like Jesus was filling in the holes in my heart and in my day and keeping me together. when i came to the end of yesterday, i felt a (weary) joy knowing that when i called, my Daddy answered me. in His tender and gentle way!  (as always!)

if you are feeling like the target of nastiness today, try calling on God! He'd love to help you out!
