Camp 2021 | New City HS + Berry’s Grove

Teens come to Whisper Mountain Camp, escaping their noise, but bringing all sorts of baggage with them. By the end of the week, as they experience the power of camp, they’ve encountered the personal God! Last week was an incredible week of seeing God move in the hearts of those who came!

There were two groups sharing the week and they meshed really well. They were all so uplifting and encouraging to one another. They became a safe place for those among them that really needed it! Which means all left encouraged and touched by God in some way! Three of them left as new believers! Here are a few testimonies we heard at the end of the week!

“When I came to camp, I thought you guys were crazy, but you’ve been the most accepting group. It’s felt like family. This whole experience has helped me. I grew up in a Christian family, but I never wanted it for myself. Last night, I accepted Christ into my heart. Thanks for helping me and praying with me.”

“I struggle with mental health things and people in my cabin listened to me, even though I talked about the same things over and over and over. It really helped me a lot.”

“It’s like I’ve been sitting on the edge of a lake dipping my toes in but not really going in. This week at camp, I’ve really come to the place where I want to just jump in. I’m so thankful for our time here.”

Conversations, extended prayer times, worship, hearing the Word, time alone in the Word, activities pushing them beyond their comfort levels — these all come together to bring an experience that awakens people to the power and presence of God in their lives. This is the power of camp.

We loved being a piece of your stories this summer, New City and Berry’s Grove! Thanks for coming and we hope to see you again soon!

Summer Camp 2019 | Southbrook 2

In trying to catch us up on the groups that have come through, today we are talking about Southbrook Part 2! (Here’s Part 1) We are so thankful for larger groups being willing to split between two weeks so they can still experience Whisper Mountain Camp!

I was unfortunately home with a sick baby and missed most of the week, but here are some fantastic pictures to help tell some of the story. Pictures speak more than words!

What I do know is teens found a deeper relationship with teens, found a greater desire to pursue the holiness of God and had a great time with their friends in the great outdoors! Pretty great stuff right there!

Thanks for coming to camp at Whisper Mountain, Southbrookers! We really love the relationships we are building with you! You are a wonderful group of people! Keep chasing Jesus!

Awesomeness Takes the Stage 2019 | Jake

Hey Hey! It’s Jake on the Awesomeness Takes the Stage today!

Jake at Whisper mountain Camp Name Card

How about that man-bun, huh?! Might not be Shaun’s favorite style, but we will still keep this guy around!

Jake Why hands

After you get past the man-bun and his one thousand “Why’s”, you will find a great guy with a great heart who wants to love people and follow Jesus! His inquisitive nature is part of what makes him a thinker and a person of understanding. He has his own idea on things, but his thoughtfulness and care has been encouraging to more than a few people!

Jake is also an adventurer and outdoor lover! He pushes the limits but lives fully and freely! There’s great joy in that!

Jake and Chaz

He has a soft heart for people and shows that in a million little ways at camp. Through his music, his athleticism, his drive in life, he is able to connect with campers in eternal ways.

Awesomeness Takes the Stage 2017 | Chaz Grant

You’ve met our Media Collective Crew, so now begins the Guide Introductions! Our guides are what some camps call counselors. They are with the campers 24/5 and lead various parts of the summer program! Today I want you to meet Chaz Grant on the Awesomeness Takes the Stage!

Chaz.Guide Intro

This is Chaz’s second year with us (see last year’s spotlight here!). He continues to be a strong leader among our team: always reliable, always willing to serve in any capacity and always ready with a fact you didn’t know you needed!

Chaz not only enjoys pulling on people’s elbow fat, but has a big heart to connect with people. When he’s not messing with their elbows, he’s great at making people feel welcome.

Chaz. Guide 3

He’s stepped up this year in teaching one of our breakout sessions with campers on Absolute Truth and has done a really fantastic job! He has a great way of asking  questions that get people thinking and stir conversation.

Chaz. Guide 2

His proactive attitude and sincere desire to follow God makes him a huge asset on our summer team! Thanks for serving with us Chaz! And thanks for leading well!
