Upside Down & On His Way Down

We've been dragging ourselves along in some areas and feeling upside down in details the past few weeks (mostly Patti) as we prepare for the annual Whisper Mountain Board meeting. Last year's board meeting was held here at WM, but this year Marty will be traveling to Florida. The point is to reconnect the guys with all the happenings of the camp and then to help direct the moving forward of the ministry!
I know there will be a little breathing happening the next few days…a sort of dignified flopping in Patti's case!

If you would, please pray for Marty heading down to FL (and truck to hold up!), wisdom and great sharing of ideas, and a reigniting of excitement and passion for all the camp is about! These guys are awesome! We're glad they are on our team!

A Booma-Chicka-Rocka Truck Came to Camp

Last week, (all) the guys surveyed a spot on our camp field, very carefully preparing for a big move to take place!

When the big day arrived, Mr. Big Boom Truck was set in place. The Hub felt like a hive of activity from excited (and slightly nervous) little bees!

The prepping, waiting, praying, watching went on for some time until finally all was in place and the move began!

Clearing the roof of the Hub and Hub porch were the critical points in this event! We thought all was going perfectly……until the little building turned out to be heavier than expected!

After some nail-biting struggle to figure out a solution ("who says you
don't need high school math when you're older?"  says Marty!), the
building finally made it over to the "moving truck" without any catastrophes!

The guys strapped her down onto the trailer, double-checked to make sure it would hold (eek!), then said a prayer for God's favor to fall on this little trek to the field!

Down the road, and round the bend, onto the field it goes!!

Favor was had all around! Barry did a fabulous job driving/steering the boom and ensuring our buildings weren't damaged! We are grateful for his hard work and patience on the job! We are pretty excited to finally have a decent storage building down on the field!

We continue to prepare and raise funds for the new building to be built behind the Hub! This is our current priority project that must be done by summer! We are thankful to all those who've been giving to help us raise these funds! If you like carpentry and wanna come visit Western North Carolina, I know a place that could use a volunteer or two!!

Our weekend was full of good things:

//lovely families with hearts of service occupying our camp cabins

//lots of food prep

//dressing up for his own acts of service (isn't he hot?!)

//little outdoor adventures

//new hair dos and trim ups

//making & consuming grand amounts of hummus (something like this)

Weary but accomplished, fun yet productive. Our weekending was dressed in goodness indeed!Happy Monday!

Whisper Mountain's high ropes cove probably never felt as big as it seemed to our guys this week! They felt every square inch of its vastness as they raked to (near) perfection! I don't think this cove has ever looked so good! For the past five years, our campers and our staffers have dealt with the dirt and mud as they experienced our course. But folks…that's all about to change!

Today our miracle workers showed up and painted the cove green! We watched with big ole grins!

 Because we all are dreaming of the lush growth that should come by spring!
