a ninja has been hanging around camp

All this week Whisper Mountain has been enjoying the presence of the three beauties you see above! And we get them for another week! You may recognize them from their recent trip or the video they were in! Aside from their general awesomeness, this is why I'm excited Tricia is here:

Coggins Ninja TriciaShe's a PHOTO NINJA!!! Armed with her two cameras and a whole lotta spunk, Tricia has been helping to capture the camp week for campers and future marketing of WM. How awesome when someone's talent becomes a blessing because it was offered as help to others. Just how it's supposed to be done. (That whole pulling together thing we were chatting about the other day!) I personally have been blessed because it's a whole lotta work keeping up with the clicking, editing, sharing for ten weeks each summer! Second man on the job makes a world of difference!

Gracie and Lydia have been enjoying long days of roaming the hills, tasting some of the adventure and stealing tootsie rolls from the awesome jar!

Coggins camperIf it weren't for a very generous couple donating their pop-up camper to Whisper Mountain, Tricia and the girls might be sleeping in the clubhouse!! Whoa…did you see that? The whole team thing just kicked in again. We are all thankful they have a place to rest their weary heads for the two weeks they are serving with us! The quarters are tight, but that's all part of the adventure, right?! (their dad will have to sleep in the clubhouse when he comes next week!)

Tricia, thank you doesn't cut it, but there's no other words to say. We appreciate your willingness to give up two of your weeks to serve with us and offer your talent to bless us and the work we are on mission with. You are a gift! True story.

a few new additions

Whisper Mountain awningA new "yawning", as Shaun calls it. He's a weirdo!

Whisper Mountain Tether Ball
Whisper Mountain Gaga BallSuper fun, simple field additions. Ever heard of gaga ball?

Whisper Mountain CamperTwo separate families gave a truck and pop up camper. Pretty awesome!

Whisper Mountain BenchesComfy benches turned picnic tables to enjoy some quiet, watch the craziness, etc.

All these recent additions may seem small, but each of them has the mark of people whose hearts are filled with generosity and sharing the mission of Whisper Mountain! Whether they gave a few pennies, stood with paintbrush in hand, powered up the saw, had extra and gave in our direction…their touch is adding to the work Whisper Mountain is able to accomplish. We are blessed and encouraged.

Where can you leave your mark today? Life is best done in togetherness.

Threads and Chias

Hanging-by-ropeEver felt like you were just hanging on by a thread?  When I've felt like that I've often wondered if the thread was someone praying for me!

Too often overlooked or underemployed, prayer is often the lifeline we can offer someone in need!  I have found our staff is unified, carried, encouraged in our times of prayer together. Shaun and I know that those "supporters" who pray for us regularly are the muscle that allow us to keep on keeping on! As a ministry, we each realize that those who pray for us are fighting the spiritual battles that allow us to be an effective tool for God's kingdom! Hands-on-prayer
I've been having a nudging toward the pursuit of a deeper prayer life in my heart lately! It takes work, battling in prayer, staying focused, carving out the time…at least in my experience…but I do believe that the benefits always outweigh anything that might feel like great effort!

A couple encouragements along those lines (both for me and anyone happening upon this space today!)

The LORD is far from the wicked but he hears the prayer of the righteous. (Prov 15:19)

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (Lk 5:16)

The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (James 5:16)

During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers
and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him
from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission
. (Heb 5:7)

While you're at it, don't forget to pray for him:Chia-obama
(At camp, we have a Chia Obama 🙂 as our reminder to pray for our President and all those in leadership!)
