Weavings Were Woven | Spring Craftivities 2019

Weaving at Whisper Mountain Camp 1We had such a great time with the ladies who came to our Spring Craftivities Event last weekend! Getting away, even when we think we can’t, to do something we don’t always do has a way of sparking life inside our souls! We saw this be true for these women!

We learned the basics of weaving (on a loom — not to be confused with basket weaving, cough Anna Gab, cough cough! 😉) and were given the opportunity to create whatever masterpiece we could think up!

Here’s the fun part: everyone was given the same supplies, the same amount of time and the same set up, but every single loom was woven from a very different place. Each person brought something different to their piece and it was amazing and exquisite and such a wonderful reminder of our uniqueness!

We spent a little time talking about such things and more application found through the experience and found encouragement through the Word in little snippets throughout the weekend. So fueling and refreshing!

Along with the enjoyment found in weaving, many found frustration when the project wasn’t getting done quickly enough, or they wanted to be on the other side of the project. Having persevered, every woman went home a little proud of their accomplishment and a lot thankful for having done something creative!

If you were on the fence or unable to come this time, how about planning to join us in September for our next Craftivities Event! September 28th! Block it off now, work it out with your friend or family! Plan to be here! You won’t regret it!!

Thanks for coming ladies — it was a joy to spend the weekend with you! Hope to see you soon!

Teens Study the Bible

Sometimes our world can feel overcome by darkness and suffering. The way America is headed can feel daunting and too far gone. But I’m here to tell you … there is a generation of people who still have a heart for Jesus. There are still young people in pursuit of Jesus and desire to spread His light with the world! One of our favorite things about working in camp ministry is the privilege of catching glimpses of God’s work in the hearts of teenagers. To watch Him raise up the next generation to proclaim His name and bring Him glory!

2019 study retreat at whisper mountain camp

A couple weeks ago we welcomed Salt & Light Youth to camp for the sole purpose of learning to study God’s Word. This retreat was not for the faint of heart. They spent hours reading and re-reading and discussing and seeking to understand the text and the heart of God.

Not every teen will come and do this, but we loved watching this group dive in and wrestle with the things of God!

We are excited to continue to share the journey with this crowd of people when they return this summer!

Until then…may we each make getting into God’s Word our top priority this year! Encountering Him is life-changing and life-giving! (If you don’t have a Bible-reading plan yet, we have an easy and trackable and FREE printable to help with just that! Click here to print it!)

we practiced what we preach!

Slumbering-woodOur full-time staff just came off a first-ever staff retreat! We are pretty good about preaching it…get away into the quiet to find rest and refreshment and to hear God's whisper. We have it down, in word. We struggle as a unit to practice it! But we got away! We planned, we prayed, we played! Fabulous! Just hanging out and cracking up was a refreshing change from the on mission, get some work done atmostphere we are used to!

Staff-retreat-goof-chrisI'm already thinking ahead to the next one…this time all play and no work!

***thank you to the generous folks allowing us to stay in their mountian home for the weekend! You are awesome, we are blessed! May God heap goodness down on you for loving us!***

colorful & consuming

ConsumedFor a little more than a month now, I've we've been consumed with a retreat taking place this weekend! The planning, praying over, preparing, promoting, programming…what other p word is there that relates?! Any-who, we've had our heads down in it. (More so than with our other fall retreats…this one is specialized!)

Consumed colorful trailWhile the trail leading up to this weekend has been quite colorful…

Consuming overcast…and sometimes overcast, I am believing the mountains of prayer are leading the way to an even more colorful encounter with a personal God for each person showing up (and even those involved!)!

Consumed beautyWhile skeptics and cynics would say it's just life, I would like to add that the many *curious* difficulties in recent days have me thinking there's more to this retreat than a gathering of people! More mountains of prayers from those rich in faith would be greatly welcomed! (This weary warrior is about to crumble!)

Consumed side noteOn the side, while we're talking color…how do you like the new pop on our directional signs? I think they are pretty happy with their upgrade, don't you?! (thanks RP and helpers!)

Friends, cynics, skeptics and faith-filled…go be awesome today!

not just a weekend!

Whisper Mountain has been loving a couple things over this past weekend!

First…Retreat-staff

Retreat-staff-2
Some of this past summer's staff (and a friend!) joined us for a few days of serving/ministering to the retreat group that leaves us today! We just love how they love to come back as often as possible! We think they are pr-e-t-t-y GREAT! And getting to see what God continues to do in and through them excites and encourages us! (love you guys!)

Second…Retreat-staff-3

With what has seemed to be struggle and challenge at every turn, this group of teenagers and their leaders have come away to this quiet place called Whisper Mountain with one hope and one prayer. God, do something BIG in the hearts of each person attending. How thrilling to share with you this news: God-things have been happening! People are choosing Jesus! For this reason alone, we pour ourselves out, and *give up* what some might call a *normal* life! May Christ continue to be proclaimed, received and followed after! Both at Whisper Mountain and in your living as well! To Him be the glory!

what made the trip

A camp group from this past summer invited the Whisper Mountain family to join them at their home church for a weekend retreat they were putting on. A few summer staff and the full time staff were able to drive down to Hilton Head to spend the weekend with the teens and their leaders!

HH girls   :: It wasn't the beauty of the church, rocking youth band or fun-loving teens.

HH SandArt
HH Cat   :: It wasn't time spent playing in sand and water.

HH Walk   ::  It wasn't the sound of the water spilling upon the expansive beachfront.

What made our trip to Hilton Head memorable was the love & friendship from the hearts of God's people. Each of us were blessed by the open arms of the Workman family and their church body. It's the stuff life is made of!WM hearts HHWhisper Mountain loves you Hilton Head!

Camp-fireWhisper Mountain held a weekend just for teen girl's. Our days were filled with girly fun laced with the truth that God loves them and finds them beautiful! Their peace and joy will rest in His opinions rather than the world's! The weekend was a lots of fun, but more importantly, effective!

Well, that time of year is coming upon us quickly…Boutique
LadyWe've been busy with the details of this year's girl's weekend! It's been oh so fun! The theme is a vintage boutique and the message is that each of the girls is unlike any other dress in the shop!

We are thrilled as we prepare and anticipate how God is going to use this event!  We wanted to give you the chance to be involved too!Scholarships
You can be sure we'll keep you up to date on all things Boutique!!  If you'd like to give a whole or partial scholarship (the girls and us would be so appreciative!) you can go here to give (mark TrueID in the notes section) or mail checks to Whisper Mountain at 2240 Long Creek Road/Robbinsville, NC/28771!!

Would you pray with us, too, that God reaches the hearts of all who come?!

I better get back at it! Oh, and hey, you're pretty great too!
