A CONTEST for the Difference Makers

Sometimes we don’t appreciate enough the people who are faithfully making a big difference in our lives. Those people we trust to be there when we need it or have our best interest at heart or offer advice when decisions feel tough or just lead a life of light. Those people who cheer us on week after week, who show up to our activities, who text or call just to see how we’re doing, who pray for us as we walk through life.

Each time we welcome a group to Whisper Mountain Camp, our staff gets the opportunity to watch youth leaders connect with the teens in their group. We see the relationships they’ve established, the respect and love from those they lead, and we observe the weariness in their steps as their pouring out is often taxing.

Often those that affect us the most never know what a difference they make. Would you like to be a part of changing that?

In honor of all those leading well, let’s have a contest!

Let us know how your youth leader has made a difference in your life and we will pick one to win a 3Day/2Night getaway to Whisper Mountain’s Plush Cabin for some much needed Rest and Relaxation.

Use the comments below to tell your youth pastor what he/she means to you and to try to win your leader the getaway! Spread the word to others in your group!

Men at whisper mountainSeeing a group of godly men gather, pull together, lead pulls at my heart strings. True, I may get annoyed or disagree or (gasp) cop an attitude with them (not me!), but the bottom line is their leadership is my desire and God's design. I'm thankful to have such strong and godly men in my life. I'm encouraged by those who've been with us this week.

Men, you matter! Rise up and lead! Women, let them, support them–especially if you claim one as your man!

Shaun’s Top 5 List :: #3

We are back to Shaun's countdown of why working at Whisper Mountain is living the dream…

#3: summer staff relationships

Developing leaders for the future is an exciting aspect of ministry for Shaun!Ss 1With the coming of summer camp is the coming of summer staff! Helping to train and then oversee summer staff is one of Shaun's roles at camp!  For a man who loves to invest in others so that they will invest in others (multiplication pyramid!), this is a beautiful work to be a part of! Sure he loves the goofing off, the dramas and rules videos.  Ss 2

Ss 4 But walking with the staff through their spiritual discovery, helping to equip them for ministry, observing them spiritually invest in others and keep up that investment even after the campers have gone home…that's where the energy, the joy, the reward of ministry is found!

Two things campers remember from camp: the food and the staff!  Building into the upcoming leaders is a beautiful investment.  Ss 3Oh, and while we are on the subject…if you know anyone (or you yourself!) that would like to be on our summer staff, have them contact us. (Our information will soon be on the web!)  Our hunt for quality people with a love for God and people is about to begin!
