A Basketball Team Escapes the Noise

Last weekend we had a middle school basketball team come to camp for a retreat! Kaleigh, who was first a camper and then a summer staffer, is now a teacher and coach! She wants more for her team than just a winning record on the court! She is after their hearts knowing and loving Jesus! Which of course we think is amazing and we want to support in any way we can!

The team giggled their way through the weekend, having moments alone with Jesus, moments of worship with former staff Hayden and challenges by Kaleigh and Shaun.

They worked on their team unity and strength with our Low Ropes Elements. They were even able to catch a local game in town while they were here!

We don’t know if this was the most life-changing weekend of their entire lives, but we do know their group left stronger and more sure of God’s love for them. Do you find the same true in your own life as we do in ours: that those small things in our walks with the Lord are really the big things? A little more surrender, a little more trusting, a little more growing! When it comes to the things of the heart, those things take time! So keep investing in your walk with the Lord. He is always working!

We are thankful to have had the time to invest in these girls along with Kaleigh (and Brent who drove the bus and hung out all weekend!). These times away really matter!

Whisper Mountain summer staff are fun people! I laugh hysterically when I see this picture of the man-beard getting a little cuddle. Do you all have some fun captions to go with it?

we are flipping out!

We've pressed on through the exhaustion, the fun, the struggles, the God-workings and we've crossed the finish line! Celebrate with us as Summer 2013 has been completed! I look forward to sharing more about the summer and a couple more staff in the days ahead. For today, we hug the last of our staff goodbye and begin to exhale.

We thank our Daddy for caring us through and allowing the adventure in the first place!

Awesomeness Takes the [2013] Stage // Brent

Welcome to another glimpse into Whisper Mountain 2013 summer staff! Meet Brent, a newby on our staff this year!

The muscles may make him look a little tough, but this guy has a tender heart! (Does this embarrass guys? I don't know. But it's true!) Hearing a piece of his story at the beginning of the summer convinced me of this!

A guy who has patience with my boy is a guy with some tenderness! Okay, I'll stop embarrassing him! Brent is quick to serve, quick to lend a hand, and quick to tell you he can't sit still! He's in an ongoing battle with Ms. Patti in the kitchen as he keeps stealing work from others. She would say it's to get extra helpings of ice cream! (it's working!)

I admire the way Brent has taken obvious strides to turn his life more and more toward Christ. As he is a recent college grad, I believe his growing leadership and servant attitude will be used greatly in the *real* world to shine Jesus and be a blessing to others!

What more can I say? He's a great guy (who's counting down to the start of college football), an asset to our team (though a goofball at heart) and a true blessing to have around this summer!
